Jason A. Bartles is a Clarion West ‘23 Alum and Professor of Spanish at a regional university. He teaches speculative fiction from Latin America and around the world. Originally from West Virginia, he now lives in Philadelphia with his husband. His short fiction has appeared in Daily Science Fiction, Metaphorosis, and Utopia Science Fiction. His debut novel, A Valley to Harness (2024), is an Editor's Pick from BookLife. It is a rural dystopia, set in the Poconos, about climate change, ecofascism, and whether it is too late to act.
